What this site knows about you.

• Your games, your record and your settings are kept in this browser, not by us.

• At an online table, your moves and table talk pass through a relay that forgets them.

Board.game is made by Gabriele Masetti, who is responsible for the personal information described on this page. For anything about it — a question, a request, a correction — write from the Contact page.

Your board — the games you left half-finished, your replays, your record, the names you play under and the names of the people you play with, and your settings — is kept in this browser’s own storage, on this device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.

You are in charge of it: My Board hands you the whole of it as a file you can keep or move to another device, and lets you clear parts of it there. Clearing this site’s data in your browser deletes all of it — and since no copy exists anywhere else, it cannot be recovered afterwards.

These pages set no cookies, and run no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. Every script, typeface and picture is served from this site itself, so opening a page makes no request to anyone but this site’s own server. The browser storage described above is used only to keep your own board, and nothing reads it but the site in your own browser.

When you open or join a table that other people play at from their own devices, your moves, your table talk and the name you sit under pass through a relay at board-game-relay.onrender.com, which forwards them to the other browsers at the same table. It keeps the room in memory only, and forgets it when the last person leaves or after an hour of silence. Nothing about the game is stored.

To carry the connection the relay sees your IP address, as any server does. It uses it, in memory and only while you are connected, to limit how many connections a single address can open, and does not write it down: its log records only that a room opened or closed. The relay runs on Render, which hosts it. This is needed to give you the table you asked for, and happens only when you use one.

This build of the site has no contact form, so it collects no messages.

The pages are hosted by Netlify. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and the kind of browser you use in order to deliver them and keep the service secure, and handles that under its own privacy policy. This site adds no logging or analytics of its own.

Under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation you can ask to see the personal information held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to limit or object to its use, and to receive it in a form you can take elsewhere. Write from the Contact page. You can also complain to the data protection authority of the country you live in.

Almost everything the site knows about you is already in your hands: it lives in your browser, and My Board gives it to you or clears it without asking anyone.
